Horton Hears a Who
This was such a fun movie to watch! The animation is colorful, smooth and beautifully simple. It reminded me of Dr. Seuess's work. The story is original and entertaining.
While bathing in a jungle oasis one day, an elephant named Horton hears something coming from a tiny speck. He is sure there is life on this speck and vows to protect it no matter what.
Horton has bigger ears then any other animal in the jungle, so he is the only one who hears the Mayor of Whoville, the tiny city of Whos that live on the speck. He explains to the Mayor that Whoville is on a speck, floating about with no protection in an enormous world, and is in grave danger! He vows to find a safe place for the people of Whoville to live. A domineering kangaroo voiced by Carol Burnett does everything in her power to rid Horton of the speck and prove to all who live in the jungle that "If you can't see something, hear something, or touch something, it doesn't exist."
Jim Carrey was awesome as Horton. He gave Horton such a lovable and humorous nature. Steve Carrel made a perfect Mayor of Whoville and Amy Poehler made a wonderful worried, yet supportive Mayor's wife.
This movie if for everyone. Children will love it of course, but everyone knows that Jim Carrey is just plain funny. Go and see it for yourself. It will leave you smiling.
